Finding Belonging as a Designer | Serafima Sergeva - EP 21
Today on the show I have Serafima Sergeeva.
Serafima is product designer at the tech company, Intercom who lives in Dublin now, but originally grew up in Russia. She's had a very interesting life, working as a barista, air hostess, QA engineer before finding her home as a designer. She's lived in many countries around the world, having moved to the US when she was 18 and spent time travelling around Asia and Europe working remotely in her 20s.
On this episode you will hear about;
- Why she feels she has found belonging working as a designer
- Why she enjoys about her work as a designer
- How to break into design and get your first job as a junior designer (which is actually very applicable to any new industry you want to break into)
- Her top tips for learning anything new from scratch
- Her struggles after being laid off and the very practical steps she took to turn her life around in just 6 months
The one question Serafima asks her friends in order to come up with a great weekend plan - I really loved this one.
